About SightLine Laser Eye Center

SightLine Laser Eye Center & SightLine Ophthalmic Associates were established to assist in the delivery of medical eye care in support of referring eye doctors. We believe that the best quality of care is received by the "two doctor approach". Using the latest technology available, we work closely with Eger Eye Group to provide patients with the highest level of care.

SightLine's team of experienced doctors and skilled medical staff offers professional and technical excellence as well as individual attention. We are never too busy to answer your questions or listen to your suggestions.

Our office locations in Wexford, Chippewa, New Castle & Pleasant Hills make it convenient for you and your family members. Appointments can be made by referral from your eye doctor Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm .

Appointments often require evaluation of the "back of your eye" which will require us to dilate your eyes. The necessary drops may cause temporary blurred vision or light sensitivity; therefore, you may need to bring a friend or family member to drive you home.

We accept Medicare and most major insurances. Our billing department is available Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm to answer any questions you may have.

Welcome to SightLine! We look forward to serving your medical eye care needs.

A Two Doctor Approach: Your Eye Doctor & Your Eye Surgeon

SightLine Laser Eye Center was established to assist your doctors in delivering to you the very best possible laser vision correction (LVC). Laser vision correction is not a commodity but in fact is a year-long process involving many decisions specific to your individual eye health and vision needs. Drs. Eger and Eger are the best professionals to guide you and to manage your care through this process. They will decide if you are a candidate, determine the health and refractive status of your eyes and determine the treatment amount that should be applied. We work with Eger Eye Group to incorporate their advice in formulating the treatment plan. LVC involves surgery requiring sophisticated instrumentation, a well-trained support staff and the exceptional skills of an eye surgeon. At SightLine, we have the very best laser and microkeratome technology available. Our surgeons are caring practitioners who have a high level of experience in refractive surgery. Our role is to deliver the surgical portion of laser vision correction to meet the high expectations of both you and your doctor. Your doctor is in the unique position to be able to evaluate our portion of this care and to be your advocate. If we do not continue to deliver the care that Eger Eye Group expects then they will direct you to care that is better. This is a strong motivating force for us and should be a source of comfort for you. That is why we are honored that The Eger Eye Group continues to select us to participate in your care.

Cataract Surgery

Cataracts    Cataracts usually develop as part of the aging process, however, other causes include: family history, medical problems such as diabetes, injury to the eye, medications such as steroids or previous eye surgery. How rapidly a cataract develops varies among individuals, and even varies between the two eyes.

The amount and pattern of the cloudiness within the lens can vary. If the cloudiness is not near the center of the lens, you may not be aware that a cataract is present. However, many people experience common symptoms which include: painless blurring of vision, glare or light sensitivity, frequent eyeglass prescription changes, double vision in one eye, needing brighter light to read, poor night vision, or fading or yellowing of colors.

Cataract surgery should be considered when cataracts interfere with a persons ability to live their desired lifestyle or perform daily tasks. After the cataract is removed, an intraocular lens is required to replace the focusing power of the natural lens. Cataract surgery is a painless outpatient procedure which is covered by Medicare and most private insurances. Your eye doctor can detect the presence and extent of a cataract through your regular eye exam and refer you for a surgery consult.

Implantable Contact Lenses

For patients who are extremely near or far-sighted or are otherwise unable to have LASIK (and who don't have cataracts), intraocular lens implants (ICLs) are an option which is available.

ICLs are a tiny lens which can correct myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. The lens is placed inside the eye in a manner similar to that used for cataract patients; however unlike with cataract surgery, this procedure does not require removal of the natural lens of the eye. Therefore, the normal focusing ability of the eye is retained. Because the lens implant is within the eye, it is not associated with many of the problems associated with current contact lenses such as dry eye and conjunctivitis. This outpatient procedure is painless and the visual recovery is generally rapid.

Presbyopic Lenses

Presbyopic Lenses With deluxe presbyopia-correcting lenses, cataract patients now have the opportunity to potentially see clearly at various distances. While standard (monofocal) IOLs usually provide excellent distance vision, presbyopic lenses provide focusing ability at distance, near and even intermediate ranges. We, The Eger Eye Group offer all three presbyopic lenses (Crystalens, ReSTOR and ReZoom). Each of the lenses provides different combinations of focusing range. Your eye doctor and surgeon will discuss your activities and interests with you to help to determine which lens is right for you.

Medicare beneficiaries may choose to receive a presbyopia-correcting lens. You will be responsible for payment of that portion of the charge for the lens and associated services that exceed the charge for a conventional lens. Our insurance department is available to help with any inquiries.
